    Bobby has been fortunate to call Madisonville his home for over 60 years. Bobby has been married to Barbara Diana Sherrod for 44 years. They have two children Bobby Jr. and Brook and also have five grandchildren Bobby III, Bryson, Bra’Shyia, Bryanne and Brayden.
    Bobby has held many leadership positions within our community starting with his time playing on the North Hopkins Basketball team. After High School and College, he applied and was hired by the Madisonville Police Department. He worked his way through various leadership positions and ranks throughout the department. He obtained every rank within the department when he was appointed as the Chief of Police he was proud of his 33 years of service to our community as a police leader. During his 7 years as Chief, he was elected to the KY Association of Chiefs of Police Executive board as the Western KY Chairman. He also has served in our community in various leadership positions such as Past President of Madisonville Rotary Club, Board of Midwest KY American Red Cross, Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Co-Chair United Way, Vice President Rosenwald-Smith Multicultural Center and Director Madisonville ABA.
    Bobby has enough college credit for an associate’s degree but have never actually applied for the degree. Bobby has also accumulated thousands of hours of training in legal matters, leadership, public sector regulations and skills within his 33 years working for the City of Madisonville. Bobby is honored to have been elected to serve on the City Council to represent the citizens of Madisonville.

Madisonville City Council

The Madisonville City Council consists of six members from the six wards of the city. Each term of office shall be for two (2) years.

Powers & Duties

The legislative authority of the city shall be vested in and exercised by the elected Council of the city. The Council shall not perform any executive functions except those functions assigned to it by statute.

Meetings

The Madisonville City Council meets on the first and third Monday night of each month, at 4:30 p.m., provided that, if the regular meeting falls on a legal holiday, the meeting shall take place on the next day at the same hour.  The regular meetings of the City Council shall be held at the City Council Chambers, 77 N. Main St, Madisonville, KY 42431 at 4:30 p.m., prevailing local time. Special meeting of the Council may be called by the Mayor or upon written request of a majority of the Council.
