Barry began his first term on the Madisonville City Council in 2015.  He is a long time board member of the Hopkins County YMCA and the Hopkins County Christian Food Bank.  He is on the board of the Madisonville Great Banquet and coordinator of the prison and jail ministry.

Barry has lived in Madisonville his entire life.  He graduated Madisonville High School and Kentucky Wesleyan College.  He served in the Army Reserves in the 100th Division.  Upon graduation Barry returned to work in the family car dealership, Scott-McGaw Motor Co, where he remained for 26 years.  He was also a partner in Dawn Coal Co.

Presently Barry is a partner in Haley-Mills Estate and managing partner in Kentuckiana Subways with stores in Kentucky and Indiana.

Barry and his wife of 48 years, live on the family farm in the home place of his great grandparents.  Both children, Skip McGaw and Anne Stull, and their families reside in Madisonville.

Councilman McGaw currently serves on the following Council Committees:

  • Transportation/Sanitation

Madisonville City Council

The Madisonville City Council consists of six members from the six wards of the city. Each term of office shall be for two (2) years.

Powers & Duties

The legislative authority of the city shall be vested in and exercised by the elected Council of the city. The Council shall not perform any executive functions except those functions assigned to it by statute.

Meetings

The Madisonville City Council meets on the first and third Monday night of each month, at 4:30 p.m., provided that, if the regular meeting falls on a legal holiday, the meeting shall take place on the next day at the same hour.  The regular meetings of the City Council shall be held at the City Council Chambers, 77 N. Main St, Madisonville, KY 42431 at 4:30 p.m., prevailing local time. Special meeting of the Council may be called by the Mayor or upon written request of a majority of the Council.
