Departmental Functions

Responsible for professional project management, and community outreach, activities by providing leadership for the implementation of strategies, and programs, to promote and support community growth, expansion, and business retention. 

The Community Development office also administers community development and public service projects to enhance the quality of life for City of Madisonville residents and visitors. In concert with other city staff, the Community Development Director researches, writes, and administers grant funding for projects that benefit individual departments. Additionally, the Community Development Director works as a liaison between the federal or state agency and the city department, assuring that all federal and state regulations are followed during implementation of the grant-funded program.

Employed with the City of Madisonville since 2000, and with 25 years of expereince in working for local government and non-profit administration, Daron Jordan, CEcD serves as the City Of Madisonville Community Development Director. Jordan, holds a Masters degree in Organizational Management and has also been certified by the International Economic Development Council as a Certified Economic Developer. Daron is also recognized by the Commonwealth of KY as a Certified Community Development Block Grant Administrator and is a graduate of the Oklahoma University's Economic Development Institute (OUEDI).
