First Annual Community Christmas Dinner
The true meaning of Christmas shone through in Madisonville, Kentucky this holiday season thanks to the collaboration of various businesses and individuals within the community as it hosted the first annual Community Christmas Dinner.
Thanks to donations from First United Bank and Trust, Madisonville—Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, City of Madisonville, Hopkins County Jail, Deer Creek Farms, LLC, and Kentucky Legend/SFG, and individual sponsors, the Community Christmas Dinner provided a warm meal, visits with Santa, Christmas crafts, printed photography, and a welcoming spirit for those who truly needed it.
“We wanted to put something together that strengthened our community and helped to give back to those who need it as temperatures drop and the holiday quickly approached,” said Director of Public Relations and Customer Service Skylar Phaup. “This is a chance to gracefully embrace those around us and work to authentically better the community that we pride ourselves on being a part of. I am very thankful for all those who donated to this, volunteered their time, and opened their hearts to others during this season.”
The dinner was held at Madisonville Fire Department on Friday, December 15th opening at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Community Christmas Dinner event was open to any and all who may need a little extra assistance this Christmas season.
We worked in collaboration with The Salvation Army, Goodwill, St. Vincent and DePaul, Family Resource Centers, Breaking Bread and various churches to find the families that were in the most need.
